North Florida Lions Eye Foundation

Our Mission is to uphold the Lions International creed, “We Serve” The North Florida Lions Eye Foundation, formally The North Florida Lions Eye Bank, was established in 2005 when the Eye Bank was purchased by a private non-profit corporation. We are aware that there are many patients who go without needed transplants simply because they cannot afford the high cost involved & do not qualify for other assistance programs.

In April 2005, the North Florida Lions Eye Foundation was established to provide corneal tissue for individuals in Florida Districts F, L and O. The Foundation is funded solely by contributions from Districts F, L and O. The recovery of tissue is now being handled by a professional company who will provide corneal tissue to the Foundation at a lesser cost. Your Foundation has been formed with a strong financial start and with your continued support, providing free corneal tissue to the less fortunate will continue. In addition there are special eye care needs that must be addressed for individuals with eye conditions other than surgery. Corneal research is also supported by the Foundation. The Foundation is governed by an eight member Board of Directors who will review any request for assistance. Assistance will be granted based on financial need and funds available at the time of the application. We ask that the requests come from Lions clubs in Districts F,L and O and that you support the Foundations mission to help those who cannot help themselves.
